Life in JROTC has changed a lot as of 2026 and it has affected students in many positive ways.
“We’ve had our rocky road to this point with many ups and downs,” Jake Kittrell, senior, said. “It’s a shame I’m graduating just as things are finally looking up and I wish the best for this program.”
Some students had even given thought in joining JROTC again.
“Yeah I thought about it, but because I’m a senior I really saw no point in it.” James Lewis, senior, said. “When I was in the program, it was completely different and it was run so terribly, but I guess since 1SG Kurtz came literally the semester after I left, everything got so much better. I’ve started regretting leaving.”
Up and coming students in the program had nothing but positive comments for this semester so far.
“It’s been so much better, I’m not sure what happened but this semester is 20 times better than last semester in the way that everything is run,” Riley Melancon, sophomore, said. “I cannot wait to see how much farther we make it, this is incredible.”
“I’ve had it rough left and right in JROTC but I’m finally getting my act together.” Alex Munro, junior, said.
Older students in the program were also quite surprised.
“When I first joined JROTC, it was completely different than what it is now,” Alex Hansen, senior, said. “More and more freshmen come into the program each year, and we’ve finally started becoming a program again just as I’m graduating.”
With students growing more and more, the CHS JROTC program is only getting stronger.
