Procrastination is more than just poor time management.
“I procrastinate most about school work because I just don’t have the motivation to do it a lot of the time, ” Cam Tucker, senior, said. ” I think the main reason why I put it off is because I don’t feel like doing it when it’s due. My favorite strategy is getting the work done right when it’s given to you. The last time I procrastinated was Monday on my math worksheet.”
“I’m most lazy about doing school work and cleaning because it takes up too much time, ” Sanaa Badgett, sophomore, said. ” I mainly procrastinate because I have other work to do in school. The best strategy is to do a little at a time. The other day I procrastinated on getting up to come to school.”
The specific strategies high schoolers use to overcome procrastination shows independence.
“The reason I procrastinate so much is because I get distracted easily, but I do it on homework and chores around the house, “Allan Monzon-Orozco, junior, said. ” It gets very overwhelming to do a lot of work at once, and I’m very forgetful at times. Sunday I procrastinated about applying for jobs. ”
“I procrastinate the most about doing all the work from my four classes because I get overwhelmed with a lot of things on my to do list, ” Sophia Hernandez, freshman, said. ” I do this because all of my work piles up, and it takes me forever to finish it. The strategy I like to do is setting a 30 minute timer, and getting the work done in that time. I procrastinated today about English test I worked real hard to study for.”
