The Cavaliers won their first football game, and students want more variety in the cheering section.
The score was 20-12.
“I was concerned that we weren’t going to win the game when Prince Edward took the lead during the first half, until Chatham flipped their ways and took the lead, Kayleigh Lautenbach, senior, said. “I think the Student Section themes should be a little different from last year. We seem to have the same themes every year.”
Other students agree that Spirit Themes need to change.
“The student section was very down. The second half was more thrilling because we were in the lead,” Hailey Holder, senior, said. “I think the theme [Patriotism] was fun and exciting because of Labor Day.”
Some felt the enthusiasm for the game was great, but that the student section didn’t reflect this.
“The football game was amazing, even if the student section was not in the spirit; the players did great.” Kayleigh Harmon, senior, said. “I feel like the theme brought me into the spirit. I had so much fun getting painted before the game.”
Most everyone wants an upgrade in attitudes for the student cheering section.
“I am not a huge fan of football; however, it is always nice when Chatham takes a win after being behind for so long.” Alexandra Smotherman, senior, said. “The theme is always cool, but it was also basic.”
“I had an awesome time at the game Friday. I enjoyed getting painted with my sister, painting my pants and shirt.” Aiden Harmon, sophomore, said. “The student section was not in the spirit this week but hopefully they will be this Friday.”
