As freshmen transition to high school, they often face challenges and even hardships.
“Starting high school for me was not what I expected; it was so different from middle school,” Jamya Johnson, sophomore said. “Before coming to high school, I thought that it would be much harder since it was my freshman year. Making friends with people in high school wasn’t challenging at all.”
“Over time, I have created bonds with several students here at CHS,” she said. “THis is due in part to my older sister, Jaliyah, playing girls varsity basketball and being popular.”
“When times would get hard a teacher that truly had an impact on me was Mr. Zach Williams, science department,” Johnson said. “Mr. Williams is a great teacher, and the way he taught his lessons never left me confused,” she said.
“Overtime high school has gotten easier than when I started,” Johnson said.”The work has decreased and the topics are getting easier.
“When coming into high school your maturity has to change a lot of things they would let slide in middle school, they won’t in high school.” she said.
