Chatham Beats Dan River

Chatham varsity baseball beat Dan River 5-3.

Carrington Aaron, senior, hit 1-4 (one out of four at bat) with a homerun and two RBIs (runs batted in).

Jake Moore, senior, hit 2-4.

Alex Van Pelt, junior, pitched for 5 and 2/3 innings with four hits three walks and ten strikeouts.

Aaron pitched 1 and  1/3 innings with three strikeouts.

“The game was sloppy on both ends, but we were fortunate enough to win,” said Chad Anderson, head coach.

“We did not perform like we wanted, but I’m proud of my teammates for pulling through and not giving up on the game,” said Aaron.

“I’m glad we won our game. All my teammates kept the energy up and got the W [win],” said Zander Cornell, junior.

“I enjoyed supporting my team and playing on the field. I like helping my team when I play out on the field,” said Moore.

“I pitched for most of the game. I liked the jokes and conversations we had in the dugout, but we were serious when we needed to be,” said Van Pelt.

“Yeah. It was amazing,” said Caleb Cassel, freshman.
