Many students at CHS aren’t comfortable with the dress code in 2026.
The dress code is constantly changing each year, and some think female students get the worst part of it.
“I think the dress code is a little strict,” Peyton Owen, junior, said. “I don’t see the difference between me wearing jeans or leggings. What I wear is not going to change what people can see.”
“It feels like I’m constantly being monitored for how my clothes fit and what I’m wearing rather than what I’m doing,” Abigail Custer, junior, said. “They care more about my leggings than what I’m learning, and it’s a shame.”
Male students also dislike the dress code.
“I don’t really get why the girls have to be so specific about what they’re wearing with leggings,” Aaron Riley, junior, said. “As long as they aren’t wearing anything offensive and it covers skin, why does it matter?”
“I feel like the dress code is put in place more for girls than boys because they think we’ll be distracted,” Cole Estep, junior, said. “I personally have never even noticed when someone breaks the dress code.”
