Spirit animals date back to ancient traditions and were used as an animal that guides and protect a person’s character.
Today, the term spirit animal is used to make a connection between an animal’s traits and a person’s traits.
Some students prefer that their spirit animal be more domestic or small.
“My spirit animal is a black cat,” Haven Jones, junior, said. “I love black cats; it’s my favorite animal. Black cats can be slick, smart, and quiet just like me.”
“I think that my spirit animal is a golden retriever,” Naomi Gregory, junior, said. “They are not violent, but they are very playful and cute. I actually love them. I say that this is my spirit animal because I am gentle, affectionate, warm-hearted, and even-tempered like a retriever.”
“My spirit animal is a ladybug,” Lilly Wyatt, junior, said. “Ladybugs are cute in their own way, but I can relate to them because they are whimsical. They also love plants and flowers just like I do.”
“A bunny is my spirit animal,” Kennedee Coleman, sophomore, said. “Although they are quiet, they are fearless. I don’t talk a lot but I am capable of doing plenty of things.”
Other students prefer that their spirit animal be more on the wild side of the animal kingdom.
“I think my spirit animal is an elephant,” Abigail Custer, junior, said. “They are resistant and do not like people. Elephants are also smart, but they are my spirit animal because they are big, strong, and flexible to an extent.”
“My spirit animal is a hyena,” Anaysia Redd, senior, said. “Their fearlessness, adaptability, and intense look all kind of represent who I can be. I also look like one when I laugh.”
“A black panther is my spirit animal,” Camron Polk, senior, said. “Black panthers are smart and sneaky. My GPA and how well I can do by myself can show the characteristics of a black panther.”
A few students pick animals out of the ordinary.
“My spirit animal is a sugar glider,” Victoria Stevens, junior, said. “They are cute and very peaceful just like me. If a bat and a squirrel had a baby, it would be a sugar glider. They are adorable.”
“A basilisk lizard is my spirit animal,” Jasmine Smoot, sophomore, said. “They run fast on water and I have long legs, so I can run fast as well. They are also smart like me.”
