A tell-tale sign of spring is when people hear the Canada geese flying back home.
Some students really look forward to the geese migrating back here when winter ends.
“I like geese; I think they’re pretty cool and funny to look at,” Emily Hankins, senior, said. “I love the fact that they are migratory birds and fly in patterns together. One experience I’ve had with a goose was when one was coming towards me, and I got scared.”
“Geese are beautiful; I love their feathers and patterns,” Jaiden Lipford, senior, said. “I love when they all come back for spring, though I’ve never had a personal experience with a goose.”
Some feel indifferent to the giant birds.
“I don’t really think about birds,” Chyanne Martin, sophomore, said. “I like when they come back I suppose, and I like the fact that they are migratory birds.
A few people don’t like geese at all.
“I don’t like geese at all, I hope they stay away all year long,” Elizabeth Brooks, sophomore, said. “When they come back all they do is honk, and when I was five years old I got tackled to the ground by geese on the Danville walking trail.”
“I do not want those geese coming back here” Henry Pulliam, gas station cashier, said. “They eat all my fish bait, and they smell too. When I was a teenager I hit a goose upside the head with a stick, and then it chased me and tore up my arm real bad.”
Some people have mixed feelings about the geese flying back.
“I’ve had some bad experiences with geese, but they still have a home here when the weather warms up,” Mason Duncan, 8th grader, said. “I think they’re kind of mean; one time I got really scared by a whole flock landing on the shore of the pond, because they were so loud, but I like that they come back every year.”
