For some students, the dress code limits self-expression.
Students and teachers differ on whether or not the dress code is a significant deterrent to students’ style choices.
“It can be a little bit challenging. but you can still dress nice while still being within the dress code,” Zack Williams, science teacher, said. “The dress code doesn’t limit students’ way of expression because you still have plenty of options to express your way through clothes.”
Meanwhile, others disagree on the dress code.
“The dress code should be less strict, because [exposed] shoulders shouldn’t matter, but there should still be some sort of dress code because without one, people would definitely overstep it,” Jax Hatcher, freshman, said.
Other students just want to be comfortable.
“A lot of people dress down because school drains them, and also the school dress code supports that,” said a freshman, Addley Guillen.
