The school dress code limits students’ creative taste for fashion.
Some students and teachers think that the dress code is too restrictive.
“The majority of people do dress up nice for school,” Bella Turner, freshman, said. “The school dress code limits what students can wear, making it harder to find school appropriate clothes that are stylish, so most of the time, people just dress comfortably rather than find something that can show their fashion sense.”
“The school dress code limits how students can be creative,” Kaitlynn Morrowy, freshman, said. “The dress code makes it hard for people to be creative because if something is even a bit too revealing, then they get written up or have to put on another outfit. A majority of the students and teachers agree that the school dress code should be more sensible.”
Students believe that clothing restrictions and compliance need to be equal for both genders.
“Students should have more freedom to wear what they want,” Roselynn Richard, freshman , said. “Our dress code is stricter than it needs to be. Students should be able to dress more fashionably or comfortably. The dress code is unfair, because girls have to wear a big shirt with un-flared leggings, and they have to have a 2-inch strap, or they will get in trouble; whereas, I’ve seen guys in the shortest of shorts and not get into trouble. The dress code should be equal for both genders and also allow all students to dress how they want with fewer restrictions.”
