Many students don’t enjoy taking the SOL tests.
Students are stressed with SOL testing because they are important, and they don’t want to fail.
“SOL testing is hard for students nowadays,” Taylor Garcia-Martinez, freshman, said. “Students who use technology develop a low attention span. This is bad when testing begins in school because SOL testing is hard with a low attention span. SOL tests have lots of questions that take a long time to finish. Because of the low attention span caused by technology, students are more likely to fail their SOL tests because they cannot focus.”
“The SOL can be difficult for students,” Dabney Hicks, freshman, said. “During the SOL, many teachers try to go back to subjects from the past so students can remember solutions to problems that they most likely forgot. While other teachers don’t go back on past subjects to re-teach their class past problems that they most likely forgot and will get on their SOL. All teachers should be required to re-teach their students and help prep for the SOL so their students can remember how to do problems or remember answers and pass their SOL tests since over the year they’ve taught many subjects and a majority of students wouldn’t remember how to do.”
These students say this, while others disagree that it’s hard.
“SOL testing isn’t that bad,” Madison Busby, sophomore, said. “SOL tests aren’t that hard because most teachers go back on past information in class, so that you can remember how problems are solved for the SOL, since a majority of the work you did in the past is on the SOL. Also, if you study for the SOL, you can teach yourself past problems and remember all the solutions easily for the SOL. Sitting in a quiet room taking a test is also very helpful because you can listen to your own thoughts, making it easy to think and do.
