Dance Competition

Dancers at Meredith Gravely School of Dance love to travel to different places for competitions.

Orlando, Florida, seems to be the most popular dance competition event.

“I love doing competitive dance because I love to dance and travel,” Abby Aaron, freshman, said. “My favorite part of competition is competing on the big stage in front of all of our amazing supporters. Tremaine [Dance convention in multiple cities and nearly every weekend] is definitely my favorite convention to attend because the dances are always fun, and the teachers are really nice. I love going to Orlando, Florida, because we go for a week and get to do things other than just dance. I have done competitive dance for four years.”

Many also love participating in Tremaine competitions.

“I really enjoy doing competitive dance because I get to be with my friends for the whole weekend,” Addysen Rawley, sophomore, said. “I love traveling and being able to perform all of my fun dances. My favorite convention to attend is  Tremaine, because we attend it the most. I always like going to Tremaine because we get to travel to Washington, DC, in the winter. I love it because it always snows and I get to go shopping. I’ve done competitive dance for two years,” Rawley said.

“I do competitive dance,” Isabella Hawker, senior, said. I do it because I have nothing else to do, and I love spending my free time dancing. I also love to eat and dance it all off.  My favorite part of the competition is winning, because it’s very fun when our hard work pays off. Tremaine is definitely my favorite to attend because I got a scholarship there. I love to travel to Orlando, Florida, because I get to fly there, and I love plane rides. The team goes to the pool and all hangout, but we almost get security called  on us every year. I have been doing competitive dance for four years.”

“In my free time, I enjoy dancing with our company team,” Jessie Hines, freshman said. “I love winning, because it makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something. Tremaine is also my favorite competition to attend because the teachers are fun and nice. Orlando, Florida, is my favorite place to go for a convention because I always get a nice tan. I joined the company team five years ago,” Hines said.

“I love doing competitive dance because I love to dance and I like the feeling of competing,” Addison Younger, junior, said. “My favorite thing about competition is the people, because they always make it very fun. I love to attend Velocity, because I got a scholarship there, and I love the jazz classes they offer. I love traveling to Orlando, Florida, because I try to tan and there is always a good tone and vibe there. I really enjoy competing. I’ve been doing it for seven years.
