As SOLs get closer some students are getting nervous about their big tests.
“This semester I have science and history SOLs,” Sara Carannante, freshman, said. “I am nervous about my SOLs because science and history are not my strongest subjects. “I do not feel like I fully know the material the SOLs will be on because it is hard for me to retain the information if it is a subject I’m not interested in.”
“I have science and history SOLs this semester,” Katelyn Gatewood, freshman, said. “I am very nervous for them because I have not gotten the best test grades in those subjects in the past. I do not know a lot of the information in science and history because it is harder to pay attention in those classes.”
“I have science and math SOLs this semester,” Arielle Norris, freshman, said. “I am a little scared for them, but overall I am just eager to pass. I do think that I know all of the material in those classes because my teachers do a very good job explaining everything.”
Students are beginning to get excited for summer break as it gets nearer.
“I am excited for the school year to end because I am ready for summer break, but I also think this school year went by a little too quickly,” Carannate said.
“I am very excited for this school year to end because I am very excited for summer,” Gatewood said.
“I am ready for the end of the school year so that summer break starts,” Norris said.
Some students struggled this school year while others enjoyed it.
“This year was hard for me because I believe that I did not try everything to the best of my ability, and I did not care about my grades as much as I should have,” Carannante said. “I am really looking forward to next year because I’ll be able to get my driver’s license.”
“Freshman year has been pretty hard, especially the second semester. All the classes this semester were harder than last semester,'” Gatewood said. “I am excited forĀ next year because it’s a year closer to graduation, but I am also not because I’m not excited to go back to school.”
“Freshman year was far less stressful than eighth grade. There is way more freedom and fewer rules in high school than in middle school,” Norris said. “I am not looking forward to next year because I hate when summer break has to end.”
