Students are happy to get back into their sports as new seasons begin fresh in February.
Many sports like baseball, softball, and soccer have been out of season since last year, and students have been waiting to get back into the springtime sports as basketball comes to a close.
“I cannot wait to start up the soccer season!” Mykaela Logan, junior, said. “My basketball season was great, and I’m proud to see what happens in the spring.”
“I was thinking about trying out for the soccer team,” Jackson Perschino, Freshman, said. “It seems like fun; I wouldn’t mind giving it a try and maybe making more friends.”
Other, more niche sports, are also on the rise.
“This year we’ve got a great JROTC Raider Team,” Alex Hansen, senior, said. “Some of the cadets on the team are planning to go into the military, so being able to see our cadets maintain a physical fitness and compete is truly worth it for my final semester of high school.”
Unfortunately, some school favorite sports are falling out of season.
“I’m not sure how well you’d consider cheerleading a sport, but we’re just about done with cheering for the year,” Alyssa Abdelhadi, junior, said. “It was a great year, but we’re all ready to get the school year over with in general.”
“Football last semester was all right; everyone is ready to get back into the season next fall.” Aaron Riley, junior, said.
