Seniors cannot wait to finish school.
They count the days until graduation, dreaming of the moment when they will finally be free.
But now that it is almost here, things feel different. Many students feel a mix of excitement and sadness.
“It feels strange,” Shara Clark, senior, said. “For years, I wanted to leave, but now that it’s happening I realize I’m going to miss small things like seeing my friends in the hallway everyday.”
For some, leaving feels scary. High school is a place where they know the ins and outs of everything. Soon all of that will be gone.
“I’m a little worried,” Anardia Harris, senior, said. “My friends are all moving away to different colleges. We say we will talk everyday, but I know it won’t be the same as seeing them at school.”
Still, other students are ready for something new.
“I’m ready,” Tashayla Miller, senior, said. “I want to go to a place where nobody knows me. “Graduation is the first time I get to choose who I want to be.”
As seniors get ready to walk across the stage, the hallways feel a little different. They are all looking back at the memories that were created while trying to get ready for the next chapter of their lives.
Our next chapter begins soon.
