Everyone has someone who makes a lasting impact on their life—someone whose kindness, strength, or love changes the way they see the world.
For Gabriel Wishnevsky, freshman, and Ben Burton, coach, that person comes from close to home.
“My person is my stepdad,” Wishnevsky said. “My stepdad has inspired me by always being there to help, give, and show him how to do things. He’s kind, caring, and strong.
“My stepdad doesn’t talk about the right thing—he just does. I have learned an important lesson from him: Never let anyone bully you, but still remain kind.” Wishnevsky said.
For Ben Burton, his biggest inspiration is his wife.
“She taught me how to cook, and she is giving birth to our child,” Ben said. “I admire her for being kind, patient, and loving. Her example motivates him to do his best in everything he does.
“The biggest lesson I’ve learned from my wife is patience. I’m thankful to her for motivating me to do better.”
Both Gabriel and Ben show that inspiration doesn’t have to come from fame or fortune—it can come from the people right beside us, shaping us quietly through their love, patience, and example.
