A new policy was established at the beginning of the school year that requires students to have all bags stored away in a locker.
Because of this, some students are unhappy.
“I do not like the locker policy, because it takes too long when my class is across the school,” Ally Paris, freshman, said. “I think we should at least be able to bring our bags to last block to ensure everyone is on time to their bus.”
“The locker policy is honestly a little bit dumb because it has caused an increase in tardies and people missing their busses,” Arielle Norris, freshman, said. “We should be able to bring our bags to every class, but especially to last block so no one is late to their bus.”
“I do not like the locker policy at all,” Abigail Wyatt, freshman, said. “My bus is the first one to leave and my last block is across the school, so I basically have to run to get to my bus.”
On the other hand, teachers like the locker policy.
“When students keep their bags in their locker, it restrains a tripping hazard in a classroom,” Michael Brown, Spanish teacher, said. “Even if students were allowed to bring their bags to last block, there would still be a tripping hazard, especially if there were 30 students in the class.”
“I love the locker policy because it prevents clutter and allows me to be able to walk around and help students,” Makayla Dalton, math teacher, said. “I do not think they should allow students to have their bags in last block because it still looks messy and disorderly.”
