Teachers are an important factor in high school.
Mrs. Allie Scott is a trusted math teacher here at CHS.
Scott attended Radford University for one year on a softball scholarship, but she later transferred on another softball scholarship to Concord University for three and a half years. She finished school at Concord where she received her bachelor’s degree in math education.
She finished her master’s degree in education at Averett University.
She began her teaching career here in 2019.
“This is my seventh year teaching at Chatham,” said Scott. “I started teaching right before COVID.”
Scott now teaches a mixture of maths. She teaches Algebra I & II, geometry, and algebra functions and data analysis.
Scott was inspired to be a teacher by her mom who was a math professor.
“I have always been good at explaining things to people,” said Scott. “I used to go to school with my mom and watch her teach.”
Her favorite part about teaching is the experience she has with her students.
“I love the relationships I create with my students,” said Scott. “School is a place of learning but the bonds that teachers create with their students will help with social life skills.”
The worst part of her teaching career is constantly repeating herself.
“I hate telling children to do their work multiple times,” said Scott. “Treating students like they are five years old was not in my plan when I started teaching high schoolers.”
Scott plans to continue teaching and spread positivity around CHS.
