The Old Woods of New Hampshire

There’s an old saying in New Hampshire, “The older the woods, the more magic and mystic they contain.”

Unlike the southern woods, New England woods have less understory and are easier to navigate.

The woods of Holmes Road were always my favorite; generations of my family foraged among them.
Small pond in Barnstead; moose love to wade in the water, eating the reeds below the surface.
Holmes family graveyard. Generations of my family are buried here dating back to 1763. You can only find it nowadays by driving among the old growth.
