Students at Chatham are looking forward to making the most out of their Christmas breaks.
“Over Christmas break, I plan on doing as much as possible with my family, like going skiing, ice skating, and looking at Christmas lights,” Autumn Cassell, senior, said. “My favorite thing to do with my family is watch them open the gifts I get them for Christmas. I am asking for new shoes and some things for my dorm room. I am most looking forward to going on my family’s annual skiing trip,” Cassell said.
“This break I plan on spending time with my family and my boyfriend’s family,” Madison Swanson, senior, said. “My favorite tradition my family does is opening one gift on Christmas Eve night. This year I want a new computer, headphones, and vinyls and CDs. I am most looking forward to finally being able to spend time on my hobbies again,” Swanson, said.
Some students’ Christmases are looking a little different this year.
“This break I plan on being at home with my family and having a baby,” Mary Ross, senior, said. “My favorite tradition is putting up the Christmas tree and making sugar cookies with my family. I am most looking forward to seeing everyone’s faces when they open their gifts. All I want this year is a healthy baby and an Apple watch,” Ross said.
Students also feel differently about how long our break is and when it starts.
“Even though I like when we get out of school for Christmas break, I wish that we didn’t come back until later in January,” Cassell said.
“I am happy with the date that we get out of school, but I think it would be beneficial to students for the break to be extended into January when a lot of the rain and sleet will come,” Swanson said.
“I think break should start earlier so we have more time for all the fun Christmas stuff before Christmas instead of after,” Ross said.
