Christmas break is right around the corner.
Christmas break is more than time off; it’s a much needed mental reset.
“It takes people’s minds off school drama and schoolwork and not only that but it lets you spend quality time with family and you can bond with family members that you haven’t see in a long time,” Taylor Garcia Martinez, ninth grader, said. “It takes stress off of student minds and gives them a break from school problems.”
Holiday traditions also play a major role.
“My family and I always have this tradition that we decorate the tree together, and we all make cookies,” Kytara Owens, ninth grader, said. “I enjoy spending time with my family because it helps build more of a bond with them and plus you get to make new memories.”
Some students appreciate the break’s length and winter weather.
“It’s one of the longest breaks, and I love snow,” Autumn France, sophomore, said.
The vibe of the season adds to the fun.
“I like the winter vibe because usually Virginia doesn’t get a lot of snow; when we do get snow it’s a big deal,” Ariyana Bradley, sophomore, said. “Also, it’s kind of a family tradition because you can make snowmen and snow angels with family, friends, and cousins you haven’t seen in a while.”
