Few things get students at Chatham high smiling faster than the countdown to Christmas break.
“The second December hits, everyone starts checking the calendar,” Greenleigh Stewart, senior, said. “It’s like we can almost taste our free time.”
Teachers say they feel the excitement too.
“You can tell when the break is close, the halls get louder; and the energy goes way up,” Mr. Dent Holden, history teacher, said.
Students already have plans lined up, from sleeping in, to spending time with family.
“I’m ready to relax, hang out with my cousins, and not think about homework for a while,” Mason Adkins, junior, said.
Still, staff encourage students to use the time wisely.
“Take a real break, reset, and come back ready for a strong new semester,” Esther Darko, college advisor, said.
As the days tick down, the anticipation keeps growing and everyone at Chatham high seems more than ready for the holiday season.
