Depression and Teens

Depression is a problem in most high schools.

Many teenagers go through depression within their life during high school.

“I think most teens choose suicide because they feel as if they don’t have people to talk to; they go unheard,” said Ameia Harris. “I think that may be the reason. Society can prevent this by building depression groups and actually listening to the teens and not take what they’re saying as a joke.”

“Extracurricular activities are a start to help teens mental health, but counseling should be put in place also,” said Mrs. Sandra Whitehead, administrative assistant in guidance. Whitehead says that “the major cause of depression is self doubt.”

“In my opinion, the major cause of depression is because they try and keep their feelings bottled up,” said Harris.
